Originally built as an outdoor brick knee-wall open-air kitchen in 1950, the prior owners added windows and a roof to transform the building into an orchid house. The present owners found the building in severe distress with a tree growing through the floor, a failing back wall and caved-in glass roof.
Completely renovated in 2008, the Summerhouse has new support retaining walls, new concrete flooring (with in floor drain), a new roof and gutters, new AZEK back deck/stairs, updated electrical, vintage lighting, two ceiling fans, two Pella sliding doors, and a new exterior drainage system.
A perfect entertaining space, unique features include: a flagstone courtyard with a millstone exterior table from the 1700's, two original Tiffany-era, stained glass windows; a vintage tile sink with seasonal running water; an enormous center flagstone over brick table; repurposed windows; a floor to ceiling, handmade brick, woodburning fireplace with new liner and cap; both flagstone and concrete floor, double Pella sliders on the East and West walls; centuries old, repurposed wood, and rare chestnut wood long bar table.
There is a new AZEK deck off the back of the summerhouse supporting a 15' by 9' by 4.5' ThermoSpa Swim Spa with 'in stair' storage. Well-maintained, it offers new pumps, new covers and lifters updated in 2014.
A Barn beneath the Boathouse houses additional electrical and building property storage off the SwimSpa level. The Barn is eligible for animal use and can reconnect (if desired) to existing trails into the back of the property.
