2 bdrms, 1 full bath, ( 1/2 bath in second ground floor laundry room)
The Au Pair/Guesthouse finished in 1950 was originally built as an inlaw apt and in real estate today is considered an ADU (accessory dwelling unit). It offers two levels hosting 6 rooms that are presently configured with a full length Second Floor Bedroom, First Floor Full Bath (tub/shower), a Kitchenette, a Breakfast Room, a First Floor Bedroom and a Great Room (family room) located above a two car garage and second laundry/bath currently used to accommodate wet bathing suits and outdoor events or swim parties. Flooring throughout the unit includes repurposed centuries old oak, updated tile and carpeting.
In the Great Room, there is a double walk through closet and an under stair closet. The room is appointed with wainscoting and inlaid wood appointments. The second floor Loft Bedroom, with redwood features, has a full closet and plank open shelving and runs the entire length of the building permitting light with side windows.
The first floor Breakfast Room has a single closet and open shelving. The Kitchenette has its own pantry and plenty of cabinet storage. A private restored deck is found off the kitchen, surrounded entirely by mature trees; an iron rail with a stair exits down to the Loggia. When restored, the deck was reinforced in structure to potentially house a future, enclosed, two story sunroom.
Beneath the deck, a Loggia is cooled by three ceiling fans and adjunct to an insulated, heated potting shed. The Loggia has water access within it, a fountain, and a custom door leading to the heated potting shed and another to the double car garage. The heated double car garage received a new ceiling and new garage door openers in 2008.
The building restoration, finally completed in 2015, included refinishing to the oak floors, updates to Kitchenette (floor, ceiling, cabinets, plumbing, and appliances) and bath (updated commode, plumbing, tile floor, cabinets, tub and surround), a new furnace, new electrical service, new Thompson Creek custom windows, new exterior Pella doors, new AZEK front porch floor, a new roof, new deck, gutters and guards.
The Guesthouse has been utilized as a vacation rental and family guesthouse. This bonus space can have various options: extended family housing, au pair apartment or a home-based business unit. There are Hunter Douglas window treatments and energy-efficient custom shades throughout. Heat is radiated oil heat (updated furnace) with on-demand hot water, New ductless heat and air system for transitional seasons.
